Postdoctoral Researcher Position (2 years) at the Department of Crop Science and Agroforestry

The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (https://www.ftz.czu.cz/en) at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (https://www.czu.cz/en) invites applications for a researcher position to contribute to high quality and impact research in plant sciences with special focus on tropical crops.

We seek a highly motivated researchers with a demonstrated record of academic excellence and a strong interest in addressing challenges facing tropical and subtropical regions. The position is open to candidates from diverse disciplines related to tropical crop production including (but not limited to) biotechnology, botany, chemistry, conservation, ecology, genetics and physiology of tropical plants.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the Faculty’s strategic priorities

Publish in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals (at least 5 peer-reviewed articles published or accepted within 2 years in reputable international journals, preferably Q1 or Q2 in relevant Web of Science fields).

Managing research proposals (at least one GAČR-Czech Science Foundation research project proposal prepared)

Support mentoring of graduate students and, if required, contribute to teaching

Engage with development partners, NGOs, and stakeholders in tropical and subtropical regions

Participate actively in faculty seminars, conferences, and knowledge-sharing platforms

Essential Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field

Strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals (at least 5 papers in D1 or Q1 journals published within last 5 years, h-index equal or higher than 5)

Demonstrated laboratory skills and/or experience with fieldwork in tropical or developing regions

Proficiency in relevant research methodologies and statistics

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English

Ability to work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams

We offer a possibility for two-year contract.

The gross (brutto) salary is CZK 60,000 (~EUR 2,500).
